Declare Pakistan a state-sponsor of terrorism

The U.S. special forces successfully killed 9/11 mastermind Osama Bin Laden on May 1 in Abbottabad, Pakistan. Laden was the leader of Al Qaeda and responsible for terrorist activites across the U.S. and South Asia in particular. The 9/11 attack in New York killed over 3000 people led to a decade long war in Afghanistan and Iraq that has left thousands more dead.

Pakistan was an U.S. ally in this war against terror and received billions of dollars in aid over the years to flush out terrorists and help find Osama Bin Laden. But, after 10 years Pakistan was unsuccessful and calimed that Laden was hiding in Afghanistan.

However, the events of May 1, 2011 show:

1. Osama was staying in a lavish mansion in Abbottabad, Pakistan for over five years with his family.

2. The occupants of this mansion behaved “suspiciously”.

3. An elite Pakistan military academy was located only a few kilometers away from this mansion.

4. Prominent members of Pakistan military such as Parveez Musharraf, Kayani and the ISI were frequent visitors to the academy.

5. The U.S. kept Pakistan out of the loop during the operation. This shows high levels of distrust.

All events point to one conclusion: Pakistan was harboring Osama bin Laden while pretending to support the U.S. in the war on terror, and allowing its people to die.

We demand that the U.S. Congress pass a resolution declaring Pakistan as a state-sponsor of terrorism. It had housed the biggest terrorists for over 5 years, and deserves not to be an ally, but the target of remedial action as in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The U.S. Congress should also immediately stop all aid to Pakistan, and impose sanctions on its military procurements and the kind.

The Pakistan Army and the ISI should be put under watch, and nuclear installations in Pakistan secured.

We urge the U.S. administration to accept the real face of Pakistan and act appropriately by stopping all favors to the country.
