WASHINGTON DC / On a day when the BJP President Rajnath Singh was contesting his election from the city of Lucknow for the parliament of India, the American flag was flown over the U.S. Capitol in his honor.
“We are thankful to have the cooperation of friends of India in the U.S. Congress who today honored Mr. Rajnath Singh by flying the American flag on U.S. Capitol. This important symbol recognizes the leadership of Mr. Singh in building the BJP party from strength to strength”, the US India Political Action Committee (USINPAC) said in a statement.

Ranking Member Eni Faleomavaega of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs’ Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific, which has broad jurisdiction for U.S. foreign policy affecting the region, including India, has requested that a flag be flown over the U.S. Capitol in honor of Shri Rajnath Singh, president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The flag is scheduled to be flown on April 30, 2014, weather permitting.
