USINPAC hosts delegation of Indian Parliamentarians in Washington, DC

The US India Political Action Committee (USINPAC) hosted a team of leading Indian Parliamentarians in Washington, DC.

The delegation is here to explore investment opportunities in health, water conservation and business in India and has already concluded several meetings with members of the US Congress and think tanks in the nation’s capital. USINPAC marked their visit by hosting a meeting and dinner reception for the visitors, according to a press release.

Attendees to the dinner reception from India included members of the 16th Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament, from the Bharatiya Janata Party – Dr. Heena Gavit, Rahul Kaswan and Anshul Verma; Radhakrishnan Ramanathan of the All India N.R. Congress Party; Rajeev Satav of the Indian National Congress Party (INC) and Rahul Shewale representing Mumbai South Central of the Shiv Sena Party, and several leading Indian Americans.

During the course of the dinner, USINPAC provided an overview of its role in the growth of U.S-India bilateral relations over the years and some strengths and aspirations of the Indian American community here.

The visiting Indian parliamentarians had questions relating to business investment and trade strategies that would address climate change, clean energy, and water-conservation issues. Dr. Heena Gavit, serving the Nandarbur constituency of Maharashtra, spoke about problems of deforestation, poverty, child and maternal health issues, in her constituency. As a medical professional she was curious about best practices in providing primary health services in rural America.

Sanjay Puri, Chairman of USINPAC, said in a statement, “We are at a cusp of the growth phase in cultural and business exchanges between the US and India. USINPAC will continue to host exchanges so that two of the greatest democracies can learn and benefit from each other.”
