USINPAC, along with other Indian American organizations, have been at it for years urging Capitol Hill to re-think India, and that work has culminated in this weekend’s historic event at which President Trump and large numbers of US lawmakers are expected to attend the “Howdy Modi” mega event in Houston, Texas.

Sanjay Puri, Chairman of USINPAC and longtime friend of Senator Mark Warner (D-VA), co-hosted a fundraising event for the Senator in New York City on September 8, 2019. Senator Warner is the co-chair of the Senate India Caucus, a bipartisan coalition that promotes US-India relations across a broad spectrum of interests.
“Every now and then a great leader appears on the world stage, and Shri Arun Jaitley was among the greats,” said Sanjay Puri, Chairman of USINPAC.
In 1947, after India was acrimoniously partitioned and Pakistan came into being, J&K’s accession has been a source of conflict and tension.
As reported by USINPAC, the House and Senate will have to conference their FY2020 National Defense Authorization (NDAA) bills before presenting a final package to the President for signature.
USINPAC has long advocated for defense trade and cooperation between India and the United States and is pleased that the Indian American community continues to play an important role in galvanizing support for Congressional action.
