Washington, Jun 23 (PTI) The alleged bugging of the office of the Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee appears to be a result of civil war between the cabinet ministers of the UPA government, senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley has said.
“I have been finding the UPA II a puzzle as a government.
It is now obvious that some of the Cabinet Ministers have launched a war on the civil society and there are some who are at civil war at each other. And incidents of this kind that is the alleged bugging of the Finance Minister”s office could directly be a result of this,” Jaitley said.
“Of late there have been disturbing indications in the last few years of increase bugging of telecommunication, telephones in India. Conventionally we as citizens felt, we as opposition felt the big brother was watching.
In Mr. Pranab Mukherjee”s case it appears it appears that even the younger brother is watching,” Jaitley, the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha said.
Jaitley was responding to questions about the alleged incident of bugging of the office of Mukherjee, during a news conference held at the prestigious National Press Club.
“Normally when we are travelling out, we do not comment on domestic affairs, but it is too significant an incident really not to be commented upon,” he said.
