Indian-Americans await Modi’s visit to US

MUMBAI, JUNE 6:

Non-resident Indians in the United States are excited over the announcement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the foreign land in September.

“The US India Political Action Committee (USINPAC) greeted with great joy the announcement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the United States, which is in quick succession to his inauguration on May 26, 2014 as the 15th Prime Minister of India,” a statement by USINPAC said.

The Prime Minister’s visit has been confirmed to take place in the last week of September with the exact itinerary still under discussion.

The visit is being billed as a full-blown bilateral dialogue with US President Barack Obama in Washington, DC rather than a meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly Session in New York City.

USINPAC Chairman, Sanjay Puri, said: “We are thrilled about PM Modi’s first visit to the United States as a Head of State. We remain optimistic about the prospect of jump-starting bilateral dialogue on a number of issues that are of mutual concern to the two nations.”
