The U.S. India Political Action Committee (USINPAC) welcomed the death of Osama Bin Laden at the hands of U.S. servicemen in a daring mission deep in the heart of Pakistan. Bin Laden was the mastermind of the 9-11 attacks that killed over 3,000 Americans. It described the killing as justice delivered for the families after almost 10 years of anguish. USINPAC also congratulated U.S. Navy Seals and intelligence services for their professionalism and bravery. At the same time, it expressed deep concerns about Osama Bin Laden being found in a safe haven in Pakistan and demanded an explanation from the Pakistan Government.
Sanjay Puri, USINPAC Chairman, expressed relief at the news and said, “After the horrific attack on 9/11, Americans had to change the way they lived and viewed the rest of the world. From airport security to tourists coming to the United States, everything changed. But one thing that did not change was the resolve of the United States to deliver justice to the 9-11 victims and their families. Osama bin Laden’s death was a long time coming but it has given us Americans a sense of justice done. It is, however, extremely disturbing to know that he was found living in luxury in plain view of Pakistan’s foremost military academy, barely an hour’s drive from Islamabad. It definitely raises a lot of red flags. The Pakistan military, which is the recipient of billions of dollars of tax payer funded aid, owes the American people an explanation.”
