Bio
Aruna Miller is a member of the Maryland House of Delegates representing District 15 in Montgomery, Maryland. She is a Democrat and in the House of Legislature she is part of the Ways and Means Committee (revenue subcommittee and transportation subcommittee). She is a member of the Land Use and Transportation Committee (Montgomery County Delegation) and the Women Legislators of Maryland. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Montgomery County Public Schools Educational Foundation Inc. (MCPS EF). The MCPS EF provides scholarships to MCPS students and grants to student staff.
Aruna has worked on fund-raising programs as a Democrat. In 2006, she represented the Montgomery County Democrats as an At-Large member of the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee. Here she helped to initiate the New Voter Education to drive the youth to understand and use their right to vote. She chairs ‘Serving our Communities (SoC)’ program. It is an initiative to promote democratic values such as healthcare, education, and protection of the environment. It also focuses on harboring a culture of leadership, philanthropy, and respect for all.
Aruna studied at the Missouri University of Science and Technology and earned a degree in Civil Engineering. She has worked in Virginia, Hawaii, and California as a transportation engineer. Previously, she worked on programs that advanced access to schools, employment centers, and community facilities for pedestrians, transit users, and the physically challenged. She is married to David Miller and they have three daughters: Meena, Chloe, and Sasha.
